Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad begins its journey from the tiny crossroad village of Elbe, WA which was once a thriving lumbering town. The train's newly built Depot and Gift Shop stand on the site of the original Tacoma Eastern Depot, built when the railroad arrived in April 1904.
Just a few miles south from Elbe, you will discover Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad's maintenance and restoration facility along pristine Mineral Lake. It is home to one the most unique collection of logging locomotives in the world.
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad owns four examples of geared locomotives from each of the four major builders of this type and three examples of rod-type. Visitors have the opportunity to ride through the foothills of Mt. Rainier behind authentic historic steam locomotives. There are eight special excursion events each year, and at least one rail fan event.
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad has been a labor of love for more than 27 years. Volunteers work tirelessly to restore the beautiful relics of the steam age so that our passengers have the opportunity to experience 'History in Motion'
We look forward to a visit from you soon!
